"In film music, collaboration is crucial unlike in solo music projects," explains composer Ajaneesh Loknath, who recently reached a career milestone of scoring music for 50 films. "When scoring for a film, it is essential to grasp the director's vision and ensure that my music aligns with their script and sequences to resonate with audiences. Understanding the director's perspective is paramount, setting aside my own thoughts and philosophies. Some directors have specific requests, while others entrust me to deliver my best work," shares Ajaneesh. Reflecting on his 50th project, the music for Upendra's directorial UI, he notes, "UI is a world envisioned by Upendra, so the music must be distinct to captivate the audience within this new world. This inspired us to record the song in Budapest using cutting-edge technology, promising a mesmerizing experience. The script required music that stands out as a key element in the movie." When discussing the decision to record overseas, Ajaneesh explains, "In Europe, a 100-piece orchestra can be employed, whereas India lacks such recording studios post-2000. Providing musicians with notations allows them to infuse their own creativity, resulting in a transformed output. Overseas, recording facilities are readily available year-round, simplifying our work." Despite his accomplishments, Ajaneesh remains driven to achieve more in music, stating, "There is still much more I aspire to accomplish. Life may not always give us exactly what we desire, but that doesn't deter me from dreaming." Ajaneesh, who has worked in various South Indian film industries, emphasizes the importance of understanding the unique rhythms in languages like Tamil and Telugu to resonate with regional audiences. He expresses enthusiasm for working in multiple languages as it broadens his musical horizons.
